I take it that the correct sizing die should be .476? Besides waiting on the gun to be shipped that's the last piece of the puzzle needed to load ammo. I was going to wait to make sure I could match the cylinder throats but I keep looking at those 477-640's I have cast and it's starting to get to me. I do not use any Lee sizing dies so it would either have to be the RCBS or a custom made die. .476 sound like the way to go? Just wondering what's being used and works. Thanks!

Well, I would measure my throats, but on the other hand, it's not like the .476 die couldn't be opened to say .477" if needed.

That is my gut feeling also 2 Dogs. Thanks for reminding me to be a little more patient waiting for that Bisley,

I haven't measured my .480 Ruger, but I'm betting those throats will be .477"....

I am going to look for mine after it arrives and is all measured up first. I want to start out right with everything on this one.

I am on the same page as mark. I figure to cast some up and have some ready to go. It will also give me time to see what these molds like as far as temp and alloy. Only thing that could go wrong is if they are to small. Jeff

Here are the measurements I took on mine:
Cylinder throats consistent at .477" Barrel to cylinder gap a tight .003" A .467" pin slides through the bore nicely and a .468" will not start Measured lead slug pushed through bore at .475"
The .480 Ruger is my first try at casting my own boolits. I didn't have the extra money for a full RCBS or other luber/sizer set up and nobody had the LEE .476" sizing die in stock. I ordered a LEE .457" sizing die, set it in my drill press and ran a 15/32" drill bit through it with a lot of machining/tapping oil. Then I took 220, 400 and 800 grit sandpaper wrapped around a 3/8" bolt with the head cut off and a slot added and honed it out to .476" with a hand drill. Used pin gages to check. So far it works well but Midway now has the LEE .476" sizing dies in stock.
