I purchased a new 16 inch barrel in 357 mag barrel for my old contender with the intention of boring it out to 357 max. Along with the the new barrel I purchased a synthetic stock. The barrel would not open, so I sent the action and barrel back to Ed's TC. The action will open now without the stock attached. With the stock attached the action will not open. I have to remove the hing pin to remove the barrel. I ran the stock bolt all the way into the action with out the stock attached, thinking the bolt may be too long. The action opens just fine. I noticed a spot on the stock where the trigger guard screw was making contact with the stock. I relieved some space on the stock s there is no more contact. The action will still not open with the stock attached.
Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

You need a shorter stock bolt.

Okie44 is right on the money. The T/C Encore will do the same thing.
I keep several extra washers handy. When switching to different stocks and grips, just place extra washers to adjust until hammer cocks correctly.
Sure the barrel was fine.

Thanks for the suggestions. I added some washers until the bolt would only go in for 2 turns, still no luck. ?

Can you try another buttstock on the frame? Try a youth model (12"LOP), I love 'em! A friends? or send stock and frame back to Kirkpatrick? Ed heals all that ills a T/C.

I shipped the rifle back to ed's so he can work his magic. Just to make it worth his time, I ordered a 22 k hornet barrel from him.
