A recent find in an old box brought back some great memories...
A LONG LONG time ago in a place FAR FAR away, I was a young firearms enthusiast that could not get enough to read about guns and shooting. I had recently moved to Pullman Washington to attend WSU and was looking for work. Since Moscow, ID, was just across the state line, I walked into the "WORLD FAMOUS" Husky Sport Shop and asked if there was a vacant position that I might be able to fill. If I remember correctly a gruff old gentleman (introduced later to me as one Mr. Daryl Tonn, Owner of named establishment) pointed to a Giant of a MAN and said "talk to him." That Giant of a MAN was a Mr. Robert Leahy. After a short conversation and a few questions, he took pity on me and told me to start work right then and he'd let me know if I could come back the next day. Well, needless to say, he let me come back through the doors (on multiple occasions and in regular intervals throughout the following weeks and months) and even paid me for being there. I never did tell him I'd have hung around and done whatever he wanted for free.
Rob was a fun supervisor and we got along great. I bought my first sixgun with shop credit (a 629 Classic 44 Magnum) and Rob invited me to go shoot with a group of locals who got together on the weekends to shoot bowling pins. I had a blast and was happy I didn’t embarrass myself too badly in front of those veteran gun hands.
I can’t remember when exactly Rob handed me this business card, but I recently found it while going through an old box of items I had completely forgotten about. That card brought back a LOT of fond memories.
Hey Rob, do you remember this? Are they collector’s items now?!?!?
Thanks Again for your Friendship over the years Buddy and hiring a punk kid who had a HUGE desire to learn as much as possible about this addiction!!! I’m still learning new things every day.
Mike
