Son and I went out last weekend -- no luck. Boy, I was whipped and will pack the 329 next time (Thursday). Gettin to old for this stuff, but it's just so much fun. . This week, Son went to the Ruby valley for his annual "hunt camp" -- Same 3 or 4 guys every year and they really work it hard -- elk always taken, but not by all. Lots of bears in the area, both black and grizzly (FWP signs everywhere). Guy was mauled by griz last year one drainage over. Anyway, real wilderness hunt -- WAY too much work for me. Got these cell photos today -- son with nice 6 point taken with his bow. . . . Just so there is no confusion, these guys hunt A LOT. . Thought you'd enjoy the pics. Paul .

Very nice!
I agree, every one, down or not is special.
Even the little guy I shot last year has a story behind the hunt.
None of them come easy.
Native guy here says " The elk present themselves to you" and I believe it.
They appear from nowhere and to be so big.....

Bill,
My initial impression was 300 -- can't tell from the pics as they can be a bit deceptive.
You and John are probably close to the same age (John's 39), and I suspect you would enjoy each others company.
Just got off the phone. Elk everywhere, bulls screaming, cows talking. Said he got lucky, bull chasing cow, cow coming directly at him. Said there were several bigger bulls active in the area.
He's pleased with the bull

No better way to do it...public land requires the hunter to work for it. Very nice bull if it makes the tape or not....I'll take a scrub public land animal any day over the "trophies" from a canned hunts. Way to go. Even if he did use a bow...
