thanks Folks! i'm going to give the 270 SAA and the 260 grain Keith (454424) a try for my do all load and then see about some 300 to 350 grainers just for fun. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)
I had one more question i'll ask here instead of starting a new thread.
I got my 454/45 Colt Bisley the other day and i don't have a way to accurately measure them but i believe the throats are in the .454 range because a .452 XTP will fall right through without any trouble. will .452 cast bullets be fine to shoot in it or should i try and use .454 size? just thought i'd make sure before buying a ton of bullets.

If you have a choice run .454" bullets that match the cylinder throats...

You can use .452 bullets in a 454 Casull caliber. I can send you some bullets to try if you want some .454 cast lead.

I have high hopes for the 240gr JHP over 28gr of H110.
To be honest, on deer, I can't tell a difference when shooting cast bullets. I've shot a few with 260gr cast SWCs at 877fps from my 1911 and they react the same and run the same distance as heavy cast bullets from the 44 mag up to max loads from the 475 Linebaugh. I'm hoping that the lighter jacketed bullets at higher velocity will work better.

Wait a minute! You're saying a heavy bullet at moderate velocity performs just like a heavy bullet at light speed??? Well what do you know!?!?!? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

lscg, try powder coating your bullets & shoot them without sizing, this should give you better bore fit & very possibly better accuracy. Oversize throats are common in many 45's.

John Linebaugh has some fascinating reading about the .45 Colt on his website www.customsixguns.com/writings.htm. In his writing, John states:
"My wife has taken around 6 antelope and 5 mule deer with her .45 Colt. She uses a 4 3/4" Seville and the handload is a 260 Keith cast at 900 fps. This load will shoot lengthwise of antelope and mule deer at 100 yards. In my estimation it kills as well as the .270, 30-06 class rifles if the shots are placed properly." For a particular load, Mr. Linebaugh stated that his wife shot a big doe antelope at 90 yards with a 260 Keith over 8.5 grains of W231 (850 fps).
