I am looking for a pair of old model XR3 grips for a flattop 44 mag. Factory wood, fake ivory, etc. This gun came with the ugliest plastic grips known to mankind. Thanks.

Contact Jussbad on the Ruger Forum, I bet he has what you want.

That gun is begging for a set of NICE grips,,, not just any old grips. It's worn a bad tater sack long enough. Spring for a good set of wood!

I have that same 44 and I would also like to find a pair of Grips, stocks, shoes or what ever. Mine have the back side punched out of one side. I was lucky though, the broken piece is still there and I fashioned a brass tube for the screw to go through and contact the other side. It works and I'm not running very hot loads at all.

Lots of good grip makers out there. If you are not looking for factory originals check out Private Schultz. Carl made a set of beautiful grips for my FT 44 and his prices are quite reasonable.

I ordered a set of antique micarta grips from Private's for this gun. I am working with Zane from Lone Star Custom grips on a few other pair. We have great craftsmen among us.

My flattop 44 has a stainless old army gripframe, and wears a set of Sack Peterson's elk stag grips. These particular grips have no bark or medallions. In my opinion, a classic sixgun looks best with a set of stag grips.

There's a fella on gunbroker who sells elk stags. I have a few sets. They are great! His handle on gunbroker is bigmtnman.

I finally picked up grips that are a fitting of this old classic 44. They are Persinger ivory and fit really close. I'm very happy with this gun. Next I'm thinking CCH frame and new blue.
