The past few days I've cast a pile of .476 bullets with Lee's 2 molds in this diameter. The first is their 325 gr WFN GC design that actually drops out at 340 grs with my alloy. The other is their 400 gr LFN with plain base that drops at 406 grs with my alloy. The bullets drop around .477" which is good, as undersize bullets aren't so good for accuracy. Lee has improved their 2 cavity molds by adding 2 alignment pins instead of their round pin and groove alignment system that left a lot to be desired for cavity alignment. For a whopping $18.31 from Midsouth Shooters Supply, you can own one of these molds. I always have a smug feeling after casting good bullets from an inexpensive mold. Can't wait to load and shoot these babies to test accuracy. I'll add results when I do. ![](http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac232/hooveje588/B222940A-A3F8-40A2-A803-D746E19F55F9_zpsikdllclk.jpg)

Good stuff, Jeff. They look great.
Earlier today, I pulled out all my Lee "group buy" molds, untouched for the last four years, and wondered to myself if I should have saved up and bought "better" molds. Your comments are timely.
I'm re-reading Glen's book, and am hoping to jump in, feet first.

Looks really good Tank, I'll bet they shoot just dandy. Give us a report, Fermin will want proof that they go all the way through the paper.

Got some gas checks coming myself. Not really wanting to use them though. Do you have rough measurement on that GC mold from the base to the top of the first driving band? Toying with the idea of getting one and having it cut out. Of course if it is to long one could always mill some off the top and shorten that up. Jeff

Haven't used one of the newer style DC but there are a few of them on shelf waiting on projects to get finished up. Inexpensive solutions to finding a bullet style/weight i want that can crimp in proper crimp groove and still fit in some short cylinders

Yes sir that answered my question. Looking at removing the gas check shank by either reaming it out larger or milling the top of the mold blocks off. I have had this done both ways to some lee molds in the past with good success. Some of them were of the bevel base type and those came out very nice as well. Jeff

Yeah, at a nickel a pop for a GC, a PB would be nice and probably pick up a few more grains of weight to boot!

Jeff, In keeping with this thread, thought you'd be interested. Shot this yesterday using a 400gr Lee FPPB. I have the mold but haven't found the time -- these were from Western Bullet if anybody is interested www.westernbullet.com/lee9gr1.html . Load was 8.5gr HP38 with a WLP. ![](http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n172/Paul105_photo/Hobby/target%20475%208.5%20gr%20hp38%20400%20gr%20lee%208-28-2015_zpslw748kz5.jpg) Paul

Awesome Paul! I have samples of about every make and brand of mold there is, along with different customs, but get the biggest kick from getting good bullets, that shoot well, from an inexpensive Lee mold, that anyone can afford. Some of my most accurate loads come from Lee cast bullets! Thanks for sharing!

I need to try my Lee 400 fp.
Tank, have you tried the 325 without the gas check, powder coated? Just wondering how the accuracy might be using pc, but sans the gc...

Not yet. Just got the mold a few days ago. But I intend to. Hate dealing with GC not to mention those .475s are a nickel a pop.

If that 325 was plain base, I would have ordered it already.

Got some of these puppies loaded in .475L. Two loads for both. 10 grs. of Unique and 24 grs. of H110. We'll see how they shoot soon enough. ![](http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac232/hooveje588/59B82A97-DB05-4586-A7DA-6BC14C140135_zps5xczsune.jpg)
