any one have any loads for the 327FM using red dot?
went in to a little gun shop/feed store yesterday that carries reloading supplies. for the past few years pickings have been very slim but this time they had lots of powder. 700x, 800x, 4227, red dot and too many rifle powders to list. there was no limit so I got two pounds of the red dot for $25 ea. hopefully this means things are starting to get closer to normal.

I am not using red Dot nor have I used Red Dot, in the 327 Federal. But you listed 800-X as a powder that is available. Hoover has some good loads with Longshot,, and 800-X is very close to Longshot. Actually you will get about the same velocity or maybe a hair more, but with a lot less pressure. Just remember this,, That 800-X is very bulky and does not meter well through a powder charger. It is usually better to weigh each charge. Yes I know, that is a pain unless you have something like a chargemaster.

I actually tried some 800x back when I first got my single seven and it did really well but as you said it does not meter well through a powder measure.
found a Brian Pearce load in handloader no.294 that looks like it will be worth a try.

I USE 3.5 WITH A 100 GR. CAST BULLET IN 7-1/2" SINGLE-SEVEN FOR RIGHT AT 1,000 FPS AND TIGHT GROUPS.
