I just ordered a set of Skinner Sights for my 1973 Marlin 336. I ordered the XA rear in stainless and a .500 brass front. I'm looking forward to getting these on and shoot. I couldn't make much use out of the factory sights. I put a set of Williams fiber optic sights on with lackluster results. I'm hoping the Skinner sight are the answer. I ain't putting a scope or optic on. Just don't seem right to me.

I still haven't upgraded my M1894 sights as I've wanted to. Also want to avoid optics, go with a receiver rear sight of some make. Skinner is on my list. XS a possible.

Skinner sights are very well made. I have a Low Pro on my Rossi 92 and a shooting partner has two of their full size sights on Marlins, one 336 and one 39a. Neither of us has any complaints. They are also nice folks to deal with.

My Skinner's came in today. Install was easy peasy! Had to hit the front sight a few times with a small triangle file to fit the dovetail. The rear sight came with two apertures. The threads weren't run all the way out on the standard aperture so it was a no go. I emailed Andy and within an hour he had returned my email telling me he was getting another one in the mail ASAP. That's customer service!! These sights are just what my old Marlin and my old eyes needed. I'm once again looking forward to hittin the deer woods. Thanks to Skinner for a great AMERICAN made product and AWSOME customer service!!

I have an early 270 BAR with a dovetail rear sight cut in the barrel and no front sight. What Skinner sights would you recommend? I can drill & tap for the front.

jcn59, I would email skinner (andy@skinnersights.com) and ask him. He is very fast on responding. As for recommendation, I bought the XA model rear sight in stainless. It comes with your choice of 2 apertures. It is a sturdy well made sight.

I've also got a Skinner Express sight on my 336 and I love it. Andy is awesome to work with. You won't regret it!

I have a few sets of skinner sights on other guns. I really like them.
