For those of you that cast what types or designs are you using in the 480/475? Anything like the 45-270-SAA? Jeff

Check out Dick's 385 hp. Zeus talks about it in the hunting area on his hog hunt. I loaded some I bought from Dick, powder coated.
IIRC, they've taken bison, elk and hogs with this slug.

I've got a 345 and 370 RNFP for my Magma Master Caster. Holding a 435 SWCish NEI mold too.

In the 475 I've been using an LBT 410-WFN GC. With my alloy they end up weighing 395 grains.

L to R Ballisti-Cast 350 LFN and 385 WFN, from same mold, different cavities, RCBS 412 gr SWC, Miha 420 solid and 385 HP same mold. The Ballisti-Cast was sixshots, Doc Barranti bought it, and I cast with it! The Miha mold was the .476 640, a beauty of a mold! All good, accurate slugs, be they traditional cast/sized or PC, even in Pink!

What colors powders did you use to get that huckleberry shake color?

Bush, HF red, white, and a dash of black. I don't clean my tumbler. I recycle the powder after the shake. Basically sticking to white and a touch of black for a greyish color these days!

I have 2 pretty decent Missouri bucks taken with the MiHec bullet. A HP version from a 480 SRH and the solid from a 475L. If you can find one of those moulds GET IT.

I contacted Miha last March and he still had one of these on the shelf. Might be worth a try if anyone is looking.

Jeff I shoot the 350 grain ".45-NMB" (my avatar pic), and the same bullet on steroids (450 grains) in the .500L. Not a fan of the 480/475, but am a fan of the Keith / SWC / 45-270-SAA design, so if I was loading for the 480/475 I'd likely be using same bullet at about 400 grains.

Probably heavier than you want but I’ve been pleased with this 445 gr LFN (middle bullet). Mountain cut the mold: I’ve only shot a couple hundred but they’re printing well at 100 yards. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

I recently received a Mountain Mold I designed for my BFR 475 Linebaugh. This revolver is my first adventure above the 44 Mag and 45 Colt big bores so I wanted a bullet on the light side that sits rather deep in the case. I came up with the bullet on the left, 370gr, 0.476in, 70% Meplat, 0.375in nose length, plain base. The bullet on the right is the Miha 385gr HP, same bullet Sixshot is using. I have not shot my new bullet enough to prove its potential but I am optimistic. My one Mountain Mold is fantastic - exactly as ordered and casts very well. Bill Idaho
