Does anyone know if Hogue makes a rubber grip for the new round butt variation ? How bad is the wood grip with heavy loads? Thx Jeffer

The round butt was a pleasant surprise for me. It works quite well at keeping the gun planted.

I just bought a 4" RedHawk round butt, my first round butt. I have fired some pretty heavy loads from it and the grip works great for me. I was expecting some bruised knuckles but have been happily surprised. I also just bought a RH .44 mag 4" and promptly replaced the Hogue Bantam grip with factory wood grips as a test. I like the way it handles and shoots. Those grips will be replaced with Elk horn this winter or as soon as I find time to make them.

The Redhawk frame was built low behind the trigger guard... that alone really helps. A set of Walnut Harretts Troopers would be interesting and better than any rubber grip.

That sounds like a great woods/fishing gun!

For the record I have been lucky/fortunate enough to assemble a large section of revolvers. I have all Ruger grip frames,a FA,2 BFR's and a Reeder "gunfighter". This 45 RH is the only one that doesn't beat up my "social knuckle". Get one and shoot it first. I truly believe you will be surprised with the factory wood grips. And I shoot 310 cast over max charges of H110 out of mine.
