I found a too good to pass up deal on a new M1A rifle on GB the other day and picked it up last night after it rode around on the little brown santa truck for 16 hours and made it to my dealer at 815PM! Anyway that's my UPS rant for the day, I am not a fan. I took the new rifle to the range today and it did everything one could expect from a plastic stocked, non bedded, std sights and barrel rife. The amazing thing was the trigger. Those who have owned and fired more than a few of these know that the triggers on a std grade rifle are usually a bit stiff, running at least 6-8 lbs with gritty creep. This one tripped my dealers scale at 4.5# with no creep other than its first stage which is not creep but a function of the trigger. Its excellent. First shot was on the paper, then used the front sight to get a zero for windage and using Remington yellow box 150gr FMJ ball, started shooting. Most of the rounds made it into the 10 ring just right of target center. There were some flyers, some of which were no doubt me. But overall I was very impressed with this rifle and it functioned perfectly, though getting mags into place takes a bit of finesse. They come out easy though. This rifle is the MA9109 with green synthetic stock with rubber buttplate and of course its post ban so no bayo lug. If anyone is interested the seller I got mine from is still running them at a very low price, better than any I could find anywhere else. I went through a carbine class one day with a SOCOM a few years back. About twelve guys in the class. Lots of shooting in one day. Alongside (close) all manner of AR's and a couple AK's. The blast from the brake after 800 rounds wore on a few fellas. It was funny. My shoulder was as plum as an old Ruger the following day. Back when you could get 118LR from Cheaper Than Dirt was actually inexpensive. Couldn't afford to do that again today. Great job on a good gun sir. They sure are fun

i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/Scott3840/IMG_1877.jpgHere is a handload group shot last week with the new green M1A. 100 YDS, 4 shots with sights, benched. This was the best group but 40.5 was almost as good. To alleviate the sticky mag insert thing mentioned above, I scraped away some plastic from inside the mag well for better clearance, that's all it was, just too much plastic. This thing shoots very well.
