I have it on good authority (JRH) that Kensight (formerly Champion) will be adding a blackhawk rear sight using their tried & true Elliason sights as a starting point.
Price point is expected to be the same as the Elliason (currently $66).
If a Quinn were to call JRH, he might get his hands on a prototype for review even sooner than us mere mortals...

What sets these sights apart from the factory sights? I like the convenience of adjustable sights, but much prefer the ruggedness of fixed sights.

Cholla, A Bowen Rough Country sight answers your question. On a hunting gun, not much out there that is more rugged.
Glad to hear the news about Kensight.

While I have no insight into Champion or their connection to Elliason, I know that bullseye shooters have used the Kensight since at least the 70s. A high quality sight, the equal of the Bomar, the Kensight significant claim to fame was that their elevation screw was self contained. It did not require that the slide be D&T like the Bomar did. Made for a taller rear sight that also usually included a need for a taller front sight. The Elliason from the same period was seen on the Colt Gold Cup and could be special ordered on the Python. Made for a better target sight than the Colt Accro but the Elliason was known for being fragile.
Recently looked at the Kensight product for the Glock platform. It made for a very tall and pretty much a competition only sight.

I have a ken sight on something around here. It is as good as a bomar as I recall. Positive clicks and repeatable. The Bowen target made a lot of difference in my scores with my 357 max Blackhawk. I have wondered if the ken sight is from ken light? He made a lot of IHMSA sights and they were all top quality equipment. Jeff

Before Bomar went away they were my only choice.. I think there are some good Bomar copies out there today.

Anyone hear anything on this? I have a couple of itches that need scratched.
Is there a good source for a front sight for a Bisley hunter. I get disgusted when I have an excellent shooter and then have sights that are not worth a hoot. Jeff

My hunters still wear the original rear sight. I actually scope them when I shoot them.
