The Maltese Mafia gave their daddy a 300BLK carbine for Father's Day! What good little pups!!!! Now I have to get dies, a mold and so on.

I think the Mafia has great taste, I am a huge fan of the 300 blk. I have been real surprised what the blk can do, either in super or sub-sonic loads. For a small cartridge it is quite capable.

I'm very excited. Have yet to take it to the range...have a couple of boxes of commercial ammo...probably the last it will see. I'm looking for a heavy mold, probably the Lee boat tail to start...going to powder coat these. The latitude of this cartridge is phenominal...

They are even more fun with a muffler on the end of the gun. I have an ar with a Wilson Combat 16" barrel and the accuracy is decent for what I do with it.

I am glad to hear that we are not the only ones that act like the dogs are part of the family. The Schnauzer and Maltese of my daughters, do the gift giving here, also. Don't know what brand or what twist you new carbine is, Bagdadjoe, But congrats, on it and hope the twist is correct. 1-7 works the best from what I have learned. Please, all of you, PM with with the most accurate loads you have found. Both Sub and Super Sonic.

our 2 pups gave momma a big screen TV last Christmas... must have spent all their allowances though... cause poppa got nothing last Sunday...
how much difference ( really ) is the 300 Blackout, from the 7.62 X 39, if both are using brass reloadable cases & good handloads???

Mine is a 1-7 twist. I think the advantage is it's versatility...using 110gr to 247 bullets, plus the AR platform, which I have had much better results in the accuracy dept. None of the AK's I've owned would shoot moa, plus I prefer to reload and brass costs are prohibitive. I don't crawl through mud or sand, so the "works when dirty" doesn't really mean anything to me. My AR's have never failed either. If I get a can, it will probably be a self built on a form 1, but for me personally, being lazy like I am, tight like I am and a red-tape-a-phobe like I am...I'll stick with ear plugs and muffs. I had an itch for a class 3 several years ago, but I got it all out in one day shooting a friends H&K 21 and Thompson. All I could think about when all that brass was squirting out was $$$$$ and "Rich man's toys". Was fun, but my stingyness overrode all that. I'll post my results, but it may be a while. I do fortunately have an 8lb jug of Accurate 2200 which is apparently a suitable powder...we'll find out. 1680 I think is the go-to powder. I have 2 boxes of factory ammo to get my feet wet. Range time is the stickler right now, but my last day at the "salt mine" before I retire is July 31 ;-)

reason I ask, is I just picked up a CZ bolt action carbine in 7.62 X 39... it's going to make me have to reload that cartridge now... I was happy with steel cases through my 2 semi autos... hoping for a bit more accuracy & a better hunting bullet with handloads from that rifle... just seems like the cartridges are pretty close to the same size, & likely pressures???

Cz is a different level...my most accurate rifle was a Cz. I don't know how to answer that, as far as handloads...might tell you something incorrect. I don't know about the heavier bullets, throat length, etc. Try looking over on BLK 300 talk. I think they have a section covering bolt guns. Somebody has surely done a comparison between the two??

+1 on the Maltese Mafia approval.... Our own mafia is not so homogeneous.. That 300BO is bringing a whole new group to the suppressed side of shooting fun. I plan to replace my 300 Whisper that went away with at least a threaded 300BO TC barrel. Maybe a nice Remington Bolt rifle too.

Bagdadjoe,, I hear that loud and clear on the SMGs. But cans are a different story for me. AA 2200 is good powder for the 6.8 but I was not sure for the 300BLK. With the 6.8 my range is 90 or 95 grain to the 120 grain Bullets. I do not go the Sub sonic route. A can knocks a lot of noise out though. Not knocking the 300 forum but it seems that there is Too much information sometimes. See,I realize that every gun is different so it is best to work up loads. What works in my gun may not work at all in yours. I have been thinking about a 300 for a long time. Matter of fact I had several long conversation with JD Jones, about the Whisper before the 300 Blk came along. I just keep getting distracted and buying something else. Imagine that! I am glad I waited and learned even more about this. A bolt gun can be set up to fire just one cartridge if you so desired and can sometimes be very hard to beat. A CZ is economically a good choice. I have to be careful with the AR platforms because I can get carried away. I mean adding the latest and greatest forearm furniture. And ,,,, With a 300 I am wanting night vision for hogs. SIGH,,,,,, This never ends........

yep...plum spoilt!! Wouldn't have it any other way. First photo is of the first 6 shots out of my new toy. 120g Remington bullets at 50 yds, then sight adjustment and three more. The "lone ranger" is the first shot with a 147gr before another tweak and moving to 100yds. The second photo with the black patch is 147gr factory. Not bad with the Barska Red Blob sight I can't wait to get a decent scope or optic on it. The black patch was a failed experiment to produce a shoot and see target..had an underlayment of yellow vinyl that didn't show up at all. I thought I had completely missed the whole thing and the cardboard. I'm going to like this little rifle. you have to look kinda hard to see the holes... red dot is 1" and the group on the black is a measured 1" center to center....and I'm not a magnificent marksman....
