As "Interesting 41s " is such a narrow field and one I have also searched I will say the name that shall not be uttered. Taurus. They made a few. The only one I still own is a .41 snubby and is actually a pretty neat gun . Too bad S&W won't make one like this. K frame sized and 5 shot makes it easy (but kind of embarrassing ) to pack around. And being Taurus makes it a non-issue if it gets scratched or worse. All that said it is a pretty decent gun, as accurate as any of my bigger bore snubbys and a hoot to shoot. At one time I also had a 4" Titanium Tracker in .41 that was also a great shooter, but now gone. Shown with a 657 for size comparison. These guns , if they can be found cheaply on the second hand market can be fun. But I, like many others now refuse to buy a new product from Taurus Int. and hope they go belly up as soon as possible . But that's a whole other story.

Start looking for a model 27 or 28 or even a 58 because I have a model 28 barrel in the que at Clearwater Re-boring that is getting punched out to 41 caliber. If you want to make your own mountain gun, this barrel would be perfect.

Too late, someone just traded me out of the 28 barrel!

Ha! I figured that would happen. Thanks for the offer, but I think my next 41 will have a long-ish barrel, thinking 5" and up.

A 5" 27 makes a nice conversion... Found one a few years ago that had some rust on the barrel and cylinder but the frame was fairly clean. Sent the barrel off to be rebored and rather than dealing with refinishing the original cylinder and also having to deal with it being shorter than standard .41 Magnum cylinders replaced it with a Model 58 cylinder that I happened to get in a parts kit. The smith shortened the barrel shark and recut the forcing cone for the longer cylinder. This is a before picture....have to take some of the finished gun as I accidentally erased the ones I had taken... Bob
