Judging from the first bullet on pic target, your elevation seems to be adjusted just a skosh high.

Anyone know which particular pre-war S&W rear sight is on this lovely gun?

Very nice gun and I really like the brass that you used. Together they make up a perfect shot. I use the die’s that you sent me.

This is a King Colt SAA. This was commissioned by someone who understood steel and sixgunology and most likely knew of the Grand Ol Man's teaching quite well... this gun didn't come together by accident. You can feel the history on this one. Somewhere between 1932 and approx 1952 someone sent this 1907 (appropriate year) Colt SAA Into the DW King Gunsight Company of San Francisco (1913 to approx 1955) who Converted it to 44 Spl and added adjustable sights a new front sight and performed an action job. My Grandfather (in law technically) thinks he got this one around the late 50's early 60's but his memory is unclear for now. That was my first load, first round EVER from that firearm. It's no coincidence that Skeeters load made those groups. I'm still in disbelief that I own this gun. I'm humbled by it. Are you sure King did a caliber conversion on that revolver? I’ve never known them to do that and don’t see an option in the old catalogs I have and the barrel looks like original Colt markings. Just sayin….

Anyone know which particular pre-war S&W rear sight is on this lovely gun? S&W hand ejector target model. David Clements made some really nice reproductions too…

David Clements made some really nice reproductions too… When David called it quits, his remaining stock of those sights were bought by Bobby Tyler, and were used up pretty quick. I asked Bobby about that sight almost a year ago, and he said he was looking to have more made up. I understand that David’s sight was not made from spring steel, so basically had not elevation adjustment. I hope Bobby makes those sights available again (preferably in spring steel). I would like to have a New Vaquero made up just like that King Colt.

Well, no matter what anybody says Bobby didn’t get the last of those sights.

I have one of Clements sights on a vaquero. John Powers was very disappointed in it. It is not spring steel. If i raise the sight it has to be completely removed and bent back down to get it lowered again. It looks good. I like the sight picture, but its a one load gun for me.

That is what I heard about them, as well. Spring steel would be a welcome improvement. However, I could live with one in non-spring steel.

Well, no matter what anybody says Bobby didn’t get the last of those sights. Well, I assumed they were last available for public consumption. If someone else has one they would let go of, I’d love hear about it.
