I've been fooling around with a sweetheart from my younger days, the Model 681. She still does not disappoint me. Anyone else a fan of fixed sight 4" .357's?

I looked pretty hard for one a couple of years ago, but in the end I got a Colt Trooper Mk III. Still do like the looks of them though. I was actually loading for its bigger brother today, a model 58 .41 mag, which has that same look, no sights and 4 inch bbl.

The 681 is a great gun, I've also owned the blue version, the 581
Right now I have a very blue worn model 13 that was a plant security guard's gun. It's also the best shooting 4 inch 357 I've ever owned.

681 is one of the finest service revolvers ever created. Strong, accurate, and concealable with proper accompanying gear. There are many reasons they are sought out with vigor.

I picked up my old shooter several months ago from a good friend in Idaho. The last time I had my hands on one was the early '90's. I do not understand how I had not picked up a few more of these and 581's as they are very accurate for a fixed sight fighting gun.

I had mine (left) converted to .44 special with the cylinder & shroud from a 396 - and we roundbutted it.

All it has seen is a 250 keith over 7.5 grains unique.
It weighs in at 28 oz.

Wish I would have thought of that conversion. That's a very doable configuration. A joy to carry and a blast to shoot. If you haven't noticed I'm envious! I had a 396 for a short time but recoil was just too much, 28ozs weighs less than a 3 inch K frame but givens enough "ballast" to make good shots quickly.

I found another one at a reasonable price. I'm thinking about that 44 Special conversion.
