damn fine shooting lee!!! wish I could get my .41 mag bisley to shoot that good. I couldn't even shoot that well this morning at 45 yards, and you did it at 100. my group was about 3x the size. is that bullet just seated past the crimp groove?

This gun usually puts 4 to 5 on the plate at 100 yards. Sometimes I get lucky and they land close to one another. This was the case last Saturday. 5-shots, 100 yards bench rested .414 SuperMag – done on a Chimney Rock NC El Dorado which started life as a .357 Maximum. We built a new cylinder out of 17-4 and added a 1:16 Pac Nor barrel. Carl Schultz cut the wood. Bullet - 290 gr Martin LFN Powder – 24.5 grs AA1680 Brass - Starline Primer - CCI Large Rifle Velocity – 1,420 -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time" *** Lee.... beautiful job, from revolver to bullet to accuracy. Don't let old IHMSA Champion and All-American Eric King see this, or he'll want to put it to work on rams @ 500 meters. David Bradshaw

One of my all time favorite sixguns and a picture that should have made this thread... 2 Dogs...I don't remember seeing this one before. Looks "almost" stock but I'm guessing you've done a little work on it. Care to share any details? I'm lovin' this thread!

It is actually almost stock. It is a Super Blackhawk I put Bisley parts on. But that said, it is one of my most cherished Sixguns. Don't get me wrong, I have quite a stable of custom 44 magnum Sixguns. This one is different because my friend Jeff Tank Hoover gave it to me 6 years and 8 days ago. It was a shooter from the outset. I rarely have been afield without it since that time. It has had some trigger work and someday I will give it "the works" but for now, it's like having Jeff along with me on every hunt. It's a favorite and when I go across the river, the ferryman might get some nervous, but I'll take it with me to the other side.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I've found that often the only thing better than the guns pictured on this site is the stories behind them, as told by those that make them run. I'm thankful to be part of it.

But be advised, Hoover must have put some kind of mystical medicinal mojo on this one because the harmony between the Hammer and ones hand is truly a wonder! I might have to forcefully retrieve it from your grasp!!

That old dog has a wobbly front sight. I figured with Fermin's natural shake while aiming, the two would mesh as one, kinda like a magnetic compass always pointing North, no matter how you hold it. Looks like Fermin has no problem at all pointing this gun.

Still, like a good wingman, this one will always be "just right".

There are a lot of high dollar customs that can't match that .44 Fermin. I'd keep it as is. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Ryan – there’s some 'story' behind the El Dorado shown above. The guy I bought it from called the shop in ‘94 and asked if they’d do a .414 SuperMag. “No can do”, they said. So he ordered a .357 Maximum and shot it in IHMSA for many years. I bought the gun in 2010 and converted it to .414. To my knowledge it’s the only .414 El Dorado in existence. But what’s really odd is there’s a factory inscribed “414” under the trigger guard. Perhaps they were tempted to chamber the round??? Who knows, but the previous owner said he didn't put it there. The only reason I found it was I sent the backstrap out for grip fitting. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Another one of those head-scratchers, huh??? Very cool, nonetheless!

And did I mention the good-natured harassment that goes on here? I admit that it doesn't take a lot to keep me entertained but you guys do an excellent job of keeping things relaxed, too. Much like the conversation the other day starting with Zeus shooting while standing on the top of his chronograph case and ending with Fermin "crushing" a Styrofoam cooler from the dollar store! I'm still laughing about that one!

But forgive me, Lee...we've gotten way off topic here!
Anyone else for some iron sights at 100 yards???
