Got off the tractor this afternoon with 1/2 hour before I had to go back to work. Using the 50th Anniv 357, I got an average of 1285 fps with the Leadhead 168 Keith over 14.0 of 2400, and 1250 with the same load under a Dardas 158 swc. I'd thought the lighter bullet would be faster. You never know.
Using my Lipsey's 44 Spec (4 5/8ths inch), I got an average of 1046 fps with Skeeter's load under a Lasercast 240 swc, and 7.68 SD. Wow!

I have only crono'ed my 5.5" one time. I was shooting Skeeter's load of 7.5 gr Unique, pushing a 250 grain keith from Leadhead.
virgin brass and #300 primers
I was somewhat a little confused on the results. data for 10 shots per revolver. My notes say I weighed each of the 20 rounds.
in the 5 1/2 Lipsey.......avg fps=940,,,,,, std dev=14.49........extr. spread=49.17 in my 4" clements conversion........avg fps=955.......std dev=14.85......spread=44
I did not expect the 5 1/2 to shoot that load that slow. the std. dev and extreme spread is similar between the two guns, leading me to believe the same load was being shot in both revolvers. I also can't say that i'm pleased with the std dev. But whenever I see a larger std. deviation, my first thought is to blame my loading techniqe. Not sure if that makes sense, but that's where I look first.
I need to run that combo across the chrono again to verify. Actually i don't think I've ran that load in those guns across the chrono since that first time.

C.R. I would bet a cold beer your Clements gun has a smaller barrel/cylinder gap and you are seeing the results in your crono data.

Chad, I'd take that bet if for no other reason than to get a chance to meet ya and buy you a beer.
You're correct the Clements gun does has a smaller B/C gap. W/ the 4" barrel I was surprised it hit ~950 fps. then figured it was due to tighter tolerances.
On the other hand, i do not show in any of my notes that I ever went back and verifed those numbers on a second/third chrono session.
