I'm planning on buying some 50 Alaskan brass and cutting it down, but it would be nice to have a little properly headstamped brass too. If anyone has some stashed away and would consider selling it - I'll pay an unfair price for some.

Austin, When you get your gun back from conversion, post a picture and I'll send you a cylinder full of Hornady 500 Max brass. I only have a handful, so that's all I want to part with.
It is tough to find.
Tim
P.S. I think Starline has the 50 Alaskan brass in stock at the moment. Good time to grab some. I did.

Princeout - consider it done! According to the man in charge (JRH) it'll be in the 6 month range. I haven't mentioned to him that a #5 base pin latch is on the wish list yet though - that might change the time frame a bit. Thanks for the kind offer, sir!
It's crazy that the 50 Alaskan brass is double the price of the 500 Linebaugh - but since I'm getting a 500 Maximum, I don't intend to have any cut to .500L length unless the necks split and I just can't bear to throw them away. I have recently ordered a lifetime supply (500) of the 50 Alaskan cases from Starline. I think I'll cut half of them, and save the other half for when I get a 50 Alaskan rifle.
I could see getting some 500 Linebaugh brass if I was already set up to cast bullets - I could order a custom mold with the crimp groove further back - maybe even a lube groove in front of it!

I have some .500 Max brass that I have used but have semi-retired now. I personally would use cut-down .50 AK brass even if you find some Max brass. It's rarer than hen's teeth.

Austin, If you decide you need some regular 500 Linebaugh brass, don't forget Mike at Cast Performance has a large stash of Hornady brass for a real good price. Not the Max, just the regular. Tim
