I've had 7 of them, 2 of the 4" guns (actually 3 7/8") & 5 of the 6 1/2" models. They also made them in 5" but I never owned one. They were great sixguns & I shot many, many thousands of rounds through mine in USPSA competition, 54,000 one year. I much preferred them to the 45 ACP myself. They are now very hard to find & quite expensive when you do find one. A 205 gr. RN cast slug & 3.7 grs of WST won a lot of trophies & 7 different state championships.

I bought a 6" barrel new 2-3 years ago... it had to go back to S&W 3-4 times because of excessive headspace... they seemed to fix everything but the excessive headspace... I finally ran into the regional sales rep at the local gun store one day, after the 3rd time back from S&W... The owner of the shop told me to tell him my story, & he both called the service dept. , & sent a note along with my gun when it went back the 4th time... I got it back in good shape finally... by then the trigger was exceptional... I'd guess they played with it each time back???
I then had mine chambered for 10mm magnum... so it can shoot all 3 cartridges with the moon clips, & it is now one of my favorite double action revolvers...

Do you notice a big difference between the 10mm and the 10mm magnum? I don't know much about the mag other than small conversation one time.

I got into it, when I purchased an Automag 4 in 10mm Magnum... just thought the 6" 610 seemed a natural for it as well... I can load the 10mm magnum about the same as the 41 magnum ( or the old Herters 401 power mag )

Question: can a Ruger OM handle the pressures of a rechambered 10mm magnum?

you are talking about the 357 guns??? I think pressure are similar to 44 magnum... 40 caliber chambers... I would think so... but defer to those more qualified...

I always wanted a 610, but none seemed to appear available when I had the $$$ or at a fair price.
Then, I found a S&W 646, which is the stainless, with titanium cylinder in 40 S&W. It's on the L frame, and with a 4" bbl, a sweetheart. I got mine, to shoot Revolver category in USPSA, shorty before they decided to allow 8 shot revolvers. With a 6 shot revolver, against a 8 shot, you'll lose more time due to reloads and as such, you have a harder time winning in bigger matches. However, at my local, level 1 matches, all of us use 6 shot revolvers.
Great guns.
And, thanks to plentiful 40 cal brass, it's an easy caliber to load for. I get a lot of "range pick-up" stuff. To overcome any ammo case issues, (due to some of the brass having a base bulge that doesn't size properly on normal dies,) I use a set of Redding push through sizing dies before I start out loading any ammo.
The 610 would be a great find if I can ever get one.
