Ran into this today at a gun show. With all the talk of big bores and customs that goes on here this one is new to me. Any one have any info or experience with it? Wondering what the parent case might be and how it is to shoot.

Looks like six round cylinder, got to be getting thin cylinder wall thickness wise, did you get any pictures of the cylinder?

No pictures of the cylinder. The seller was also the guy who was running the gun show. He had to run off and do a couple of NICS checks so my picture taking time was cut short.

i vaguely remember a write up during the 80's in G&A about a Clements-Carver shooter/gunsmith team building up some pre-.445SuperMag .357 to .44 conversions they called the .44 Rhino. without a custom 5shot cylinder I dont see it being possible to do a fifty of any type on the Wesson frame. as bigbores said it appears to be a six shot based on flute placement

No knowledge of cartridge in question. Cylinder stop notches on large frame Dan Wessons are offset and angled outboard to further push the notch away from the center of the chamber. The cylinder stop is angled, and beveled on top. Looseness in the form of endshake or stop-to-notch fit may induce cylinder float with heavy recoiling rounds.
Propriety of boring 6 half-inch holes in the cylinder aside, the lightened cylinder might be even more inclined to float under recoil. David Bradshaw

I think you are all correct. I find no .50 Rhino mentioned anywhere on the internet. Perhaps he has it miss labeled. He said he bought it at the Syracuse gun show recently and hadn't spend any time with it. I will have to give him a call Monday.

If I remember correctly, the .44 Rhino case was 1.75 inches long.
I still have the article but it is fifty miles away from where I am.
Was not Wesson involved with a five-shot .50 revolver cartridge shortly before Linebaugh produced his?
I cannot remember the name of the cartridge but they show up at cartridge shows on occasion.

LInebaugh has stated he wasnt the 1stt to build a .50 in the past. i recall mention of a Crum experimenting with a .50 on Redhawks before the LInebaugh came out
