While there's been a bit of talk about the big selloff of Elmer's most famous guns, I've heard little chatter about the rest of his firearms. Who knows how many guns are in the full family collection, but it appears that another 90-100 guns from the collection are being auctioned off. Seems to me that the estimates seem quite reachable for a good number of the blue collar crowd. Might be your chance to own a piece of history.

THERE ARE 57 OF KEITH'S GUNS PICTURED. THERE WERE APPROX 60 (50-50 LONG GUNS AND HANDGUNS) IN THE MUSEUM PLUS A FEW RIFLES TED TOOK BACK HOME AS THERE WASN'T ROOM. AND THERE WERE A FEW EXTRA SIXGUNS THAT WERE NOT DISPLAYED SUCH AS THE TRIPLE-LOCKS AND .357 MAGNUMS. ELMER DID NOT HAVE 90-100 GUNS. NONE WILL GO CHEAPLY.

A couple of the least desirable handguns may be affordable.(not Cheap!) Maybe there will be some nice custom guns up for sale soon around here to make room for a Keith gun. This probably won't be my time to snag one of his rifles, since most of them are doubles.
JT, you had been silent around here for a while, but I'm glad you're staying on top of these Keith threads. He passed before my time, but I've learned a lot about him recently. I just got my Book of the 44, I'm trying to be less ignorant.

Thanks for the clarification, John. My counting skills aren't worth diddly past six or seven. As for "cheapness" or "affordability", I don't think anything of Keith's will go cheaply, or be affordable to everyone. But there are more than a few members here with the means to bring one of Elmer's guns home.

Mr. Taffin is certainly closer to the situation than any of us, but if you follow the link in odin's post, Poulin is listing 100+ guns that they identify as part of the Keith Estate. According to Julia, Poulin has Keith's "utility arms". Poulin Auction: tinyurl.com/mbovaqq

Wow! I know how I'll be spending my computer time for the next few days - study the websight and scheming on how to get one of these!
Cheap - probably no way. Affordable - perhaps. Odds are long on actual scoring one though - I don't usually do so well at auctions.
Thanks for the heads up Odin!!

I looked over the listings and many of the opening bid prices are quite reasonable. Of course that can all change and quickly. A lot of pretty nice looking guns though.

A Ruger SP-101 from the "Elmer Keith Estate Collection"?? Gimme a friggin' break.
If Elmer could address this himself, he would say, "Hell, I Was Dead!" when the SP-101 was first introduced to the market in 1989.

He certainly didn't own it, but it does have his #15 serial number. Did Ruger continue sending his 'subscription' guns to the family after his death?

Poulin Auction: tinyurl.com/mbovaqqIF YOU LOOK AT THE DATES OF MANUFACTURE ON MAY OF THESE IT WAS AFTER HIS STROKE IN '81 OR EVEN AFTER HE PASSED IN '84.HE NEVER SHOT THEM IF HE OR HIS FAMILY DID RECEIVE THEM. CAN'T SEE THAT A GUN HE NEVER USED HAS ANY EXTRA VALUE. KEITH OFTEN BOUGHT GUNS JUST FOR TRADING AT GUN SHOWS. JESSE JAMES' MOTHER KEPT A BUCKET FULL OF GUNS TO SELL TO TOURISTS AS GENUINE JESSE GUNS. BUYER BEWARE.

Perhaps they are stretching the definition of "estate" to include extended family?

This is contained in the fine print on these auction items:
"Disclaimer: Any advice or opinions provided by Poulin’s Antiques & Auctions, Inc. or its employees are given strictly as a courtesy and are not a warrant of condition, authenticity, age, attribution or description of said property."
In other words, they reserve the right to run a complete and utter scam on unsuspecting bidders.

What does it mean by: Internet Premium : 20% It means add 20% to the final price for the auction houses processing the sale. If you bid $10000 on a gun and win you must pay $12000 to get your gun, plus shipping. Have a nice day, seems 15% is more normal for auctions but its the cost of doing business with them.
