I have about a hour and a half drive to work one way so it allows a lot of time to just think. Question of the day....... If you had a Redhawk in a 45 could you swap out and properly time a cylinder from a super redhawk in 454 casull and shoot the five shot ruger loads thru it safely? Just pondering and inquisitive......

Such things have been done. A forum member by the handle of Whitworth has/had just what you describe. But i don't think he restricted it to 45 colt levels.

Be careful with all that thinking, it can get you into trouble.

Yep know of a half dozen 454 redhawks. The earlest 45 RRH would chamber the factory FA 260 gr 454 and I think thats why they stopped making them late 80's early 90's

Yup, I had a .45 Colt Redhawk that was fitted with a .454 SRH cylinder to. No, you don't have to restrict that to hot .45 Colt loads if you want more. You can shoot full-tilt .454 to your hearts content. Here is a picture of it:

I've got one converted to a .44/.454. It'll handle loads as stout as you'll want to hang onto.

One winter a few years ago it turned my 4" 45 Colt in to this.... forums.outdoorsdirectory.com/showthread.php/91756-454-Redhawk-project-begins-it-s-alive!

Snyd, I've always read the hump on the RH and SRH can be rather uncomfortable with medium range loads and above. Do those grips help? Are they Nill grips?

Ya they are Nill Griffe's. I've tried lots of RH grips. I have since sanded em down and smoothed/rounded em out to fit my hand better. Not quite as purdy but hey.... "form follows function"
