While Ruger's definitely dominate the safe population here, I have always been a closet fan of older S&W revolvers. I seemed to have bumped into a few over the last couple of years but one that has always intrigued me due to JT's writings had been the New Century or Triple Lock. To some, it is the pinnacle of the S&W double action revolvers and while I would have loved to found a target version, I somehow just weaseled my way into a standard model with 6" barrel and a LOW 3 digit serial number in 44 Special. The gun won't land here until a couple of weeks or so due to holiday on Monday and me going out of town for a funeral but I am still excited to finally sneak up on one of the iconic revolvers of our times. Pictures will follow once it lands. JT, you just keep finding ways to spend my kid's inheritance with your writings!

IT TOOK ME 20 YEARS TO FIND A REASONABLY PRICED TARGET TRIPLE-LOCK AFTER I GOT MY FIRST STANDARD VERSION. TRADED A 1898 COLT SAA .44-40 FOR THE TARGET VERSION. THE HOLY GRAIL IS THE TARGET MODEL 1926. AROUND 25 MADE; FIGURE $8,000-$10,000!

You are right JT, it is a 6 1/2" barrel, not a 6". I do not plan on searching for one of the target 1926 models, too many haystacks to sort through. I will stick to my USFA Double Eagle and TLA Improved #5s in 41 as my hard to get, low number out there guns and be happy with them. But like you have always said (or "taught us students" using the education background you have) the joy is in the search and the hunt, not the finding and ending.
Thanks again for the writings and the inspiration my friend!

If you spend all the money they can't put you in a nursing home and they get to change diapers
