Mr Bradshaw, I reread your post and went to retest the 327pc. When I pushed the thumb latch forward, then pushed down on the cylinder, the thumb latch would stay forward till I released the cylinder. For what it's worth a k frame was tried and the result was the same.

I've been doing some thinking and I believe I have a solution to the center pin float in this 327. I disassembled the cylinder and tapped the end of the ejector for a 6-32 screw. The only spring I had on hand that fit inside the ejector was a browning hi power mag disconnect spring. So I cut the hp spring in half then shortened the center pin to fit the new center pin spring and screw. Here's a picture before assembly. Some after assembly pictures. Now that the center pin is supported at the front I believe that the floating problem is stopped. I'll test it when I get a chance.

I've been looking for a 627 cylinder maybe to replace the titanium one it should only add about 2 oz. may contact s&w and see what they say. Will watch the barrel nut, cylinder gap and put it on the pre-flight check list with the other screws on the pistol. I have some blue locktite on hand if needed. Some folks have had S&W install a stainless cylinder in their 329's. So that's apparently something they will do. I got tired of worrying about mine and sold it.

I've read were s&w put a stainless steel cylinder on a 327. Another idea is to get a 9mm cylinder but I'll be happy to stop the center pin float a keep the barrel tight.

I got a break from bailing hay today and tested the 327pc. Following the normal process mark the frame with a sharpie then test fired with lead 357 mags followed with some copper jacketed 357 mags then some 38 +ps. Here's some before photos. And now the after photos. I didn't take photos but the forcing cone did not have any off center marking. Looks like the center pin float has been stopped and the barrel has stayed tight for 22 rounds. It doesn't sound like much but for this problem child it is an accomplishment. After 16 rounds of 357 mags and 6 rounds of 38 sp +p+ and the cylinder is flame cut.
