I recently was able to talk one of the forum members out of his old model 57. It is an S prefix gun with the lazy "&" and best of all, it did NOT have any grips! I had an old pair of cokes that I was planning on installed but as I was cruising the S&W forum I ran across a member called DWFAN who restores Smith grips. I sent him the old cokes and his cryptic response was "These are a wreck!" Already being into the grips for their up front cost I told him to do as best he could so he basically started from scratch. Renickel the emblems, replace the washers, clean up the checkering and borders and refinish. I asked if he wanted me to post pictures and he said sure. Apparently many customers won't post pictures of grips he has restored because they want folks to thing they are original and not refinished. Since I am by no means a purist collector I said I had NO problem letting folks know they were reworked. I could care less as nice as they turned out!

I had him restore a set of Cokes four or five years ago and they came out fantastic as well. From pretty beat up to near as new.
