Got these back from JRH yesterday. Don't have time to get good pics this morning, but I wanted to get them out there. A 686 & a 681 were sacrificed on the altar of the big bore gods. Barrel shrouds & cylinders came from Numrich. Jack trimmed down the shroud for the 681, then had it hardcoat anodized locally. He also roundbutted the 681. The shroud on the 686 is just like it came from Numrich. These conversions are not as cheap as I thought they would be, since Jack has to install and dial in indicating pins to clock the aluminum shrouds. Grips are Altamonts (I think) with "antiqued" S&W medallions I found at a recent gun show. I needed grey/silver grips, since the guns already have 4 different shades of silver/grey between hardchrome lockwork, TI cylinders, SS frames, & aluminum barrel shrouds. The 681 is the one that was with Jack at JT's dinner. Here's the neat part: The 686 weighs 29.7 oz unloaded, and the 681 weighs 28.5 oz unloaded. That's over a pound less than my Ruger NM midframe flattops in the same caliber. And a family pic of my L frame .44 Specials:
