I thought I'd post some (44) pictures of the Elmer Keith Museum for those who didn't get a chance to make it before Cabela's closed it down. The pics would have been much better if... 1- I had a better camera 2- The displays weren't behind glass and already illuminated and 3- I had ANY photography talent at all With that said, I hope this is a benefit to those who couldn't see it in person.

A sincere thank you for posting these pictures. I had hoped to eventually see this myself but now that its gone I appreciate the opportunity to see what was there.

Stump buster.... very much appreciate your photo essay. To take photos of objects in a museum setting represents a near thankless challenge, as it so difficult. You prove the effort is worth it. Perhaps the display aspect conserves an instrument's importance in history. Early among my postings, guns on display at the Indian museum on the Mall in Washington, D.C., including old Colt Peacemakers, a Colt Patterson, Indian revolvers and rifles, and a Winchester Model 1866 presented to Chief Sitting Bull by President Ulysses S. Grant.
Keith's Colts and Smith & Wessons bridge an era to our time that began with Sam Colt's revolving pistols. A sacred trust we must continue, David Bradshaw

I got the chance to hold some of those guns in Elmers shop in the mid 70's, I've posted one where he's holding one of his Ruger #1's thats engraved. We were out backof his house where he had all his mounts & did his writing. Sure wish I would have taken more photo's. Hate it that the museum is closing, some will never get to see it.

Why did Cabelas decide to close it? Where is everything going? FOUND THE ANSWER IN ANOTHER POST.
