I would love a High Wall... love those single shots... of the singles I own, my favorites, so far... are the Rolling Blocks... I have a custom Navy Arms build in 40-65, that I did really well ( shot a perfect score, but was my 1st match, so I didn't take the clock seriously enough ) in a long range steel buffalo shoot, with the 40-65, a year or so ago ( need to get back & do a few more of those, as it was really fun )... The Navy Arms has the conventional tang sight... my personal favorite is a Remington #1 custom with a fantastic walnut burl stock & heavy 8 mm barrel, it's chambered in 32-40... but I chose to put a 15X Unertl scope on it, so it's not legal for the CAS steel buffalo shoots that I can attend around here... I mostly use that one on my personal range

I'm going to start with a Paul Jones 540gr. Postell and then cut some different molds for hunting and plinking. I figure with mid and long range staffs I can have it ready for a couple different loads. I had a couple of rolling blocks, but have wanted a High Wall since I was 8 years old and clean originals are way too much for the wallet. I hope to start load development on Sunday.

Just have an update. This rifle shoots like an absolute dream. The first load I tried, a light load of 60gr. Goex ffg with a 540gr. Paul Jones Postell put 10 shots in about 1 1/2" at 100 yards with a just post front insert. I can't wait for the weather to get nice to really test it.

The rear sight is a Kelley mid range soule sight, but for long range out to 1,000 yards I need to get the long range for it and use the same base. www.kelleysights.com/SouleSights.php

the order of lock time fastest to slowest would be: high wall, rolling block, sharps.
before everyone falls to the ground shaking and twitching - yes, i have a couple of shilohs and a high wall, just pointing out the simple mechanics..
many, MANY, bpcr rifles are won with sharps guns - as well as the others....a lot of times i think it boils down to which one "is the girl you want to bring home to meet the folks.."
nothing wrong with a pretty rifle!

I'll get a Shiloh some day but the High Wall has been my grail rifle since I held one at 8 years old. It definitely shoots good with the Paul Jones 530 Postell.

Me, I'm checking out the bench rig! Is it homemade? If you have a spare moment I'd appreciate it greatly to know everything about it, including the bags.
Many Thanks - Bandit999

Bandit999, the first picture is from the ad when it was for sale so I don't know anything about it. Thanks, Wickerbill, after some research I found the profile is within .002" of the number 4 profile. It sure does shoot well and I got the long range staff for the Kelley soule sight ao now it's a waiting game for nicer weather to stretch it's legs.
