On the double action side of things, I've been a Colt guy for the most part (exception being a 5 1/2" Redhawk 44).
Haven't owned a S&W for going on six or seven years now.
So I was at the lgs a couple of weeks ago, and just for kicks asked to check out a new Performance Center 627 V Comp.
Two tone black and silver (Melonite on stainless) 8 shot .357 with a removable comp.
Super tight lock up for a S&W (almost Colt like) small cylinder gap, nicely timed, nice fit and finish by new gun standards. GREAT single action trigger, and decent double action.
A few more trips to the store, and some heavy thinking (decisions like this always come kind of hard), I put some money on it to hold it. Worked out a trade deal that thinned a couple unused items plus some cash I'd been saving up since Spring and I brought it home last night. Ran 50 rounds of factory 158gr ammo, and some of my own handloads with some 700x (1st time using this powder.. boy my old Lyman 55 Doesn't like this stuff! but the loads were accurate.) Dialed the sights in and overall I'm pretty pleased especially given that the Hogues really don't agree with my hands.
Soon it will get some new grips. Haven't decided yet, but most likely something more traditional than Goodyears.
Here's a couple of lousy indoor pics. The finish is MUCH blacker than the pics show. Actually kind of good looking IMO for a "New School" revolver. New grips should Snazz it up a bit too!!
Was just excited and wanted to share.
A shot with my old reliable Lyman All American Press
..And if fits nicely in a Holster Rob L made for my Redhawk a while back. No surprise that it actually carries real well. I'm a HUGE fan of Robs holsters and how well they work. Can conceal it no problem under just a T shirt!
Feels good to have a S&W again (even with the lock and all) after a long hiatus. Also my first N frame.
