On the gunsmith's recommendation I am going to a "Red Buff" scope mount on my newest paper puncher. This mount attaches to the side away from the ejection port and has integral 30mm rings. I run a 1 inch tube scope. The gunsmith recommends the ring liners from EGW for the scope. This liner is flanged on each side to lock it into the ring. Gunsmith says that my new barrel has arrived. Means that my newest paper puncher will be back home soon... Pictures when it arrives...

Similar but not the same. Looks like I could put 1 inch rings on that one.

I'll have us some pictures soon. The mount we are putting on my gun mounts similar but the space between the scope and slide is much smaller.

Mount it right to the slide, had mine mounted that way since Jackie Best came up with it 25 years or so ago. Works great for bullseye 1911's, Adjust your load to move the slide with whatever you mount. I personally have the Gil Hebard bullseye scopes. Set mine up with 452AA powder now WST, and worked it for accuracy and my cadence. I have never been sorry with this set up, or had any problems same scope been on there for years. Wore out a few barrels thou. John Roberts

Been there done that 30+ years ago with the Burris scope. Joe Chambers of the All Guard MTU recommended it and built my first. Still use the scope but dropped the slide mount 25 years ago. All a matter of personal preference. Which is best? Herschel Anderson set the record in the 70s with iron sights.
