Agreed. Stop paying the scalper prices. Let the true hoarders choke on their stashes. +1

I really get sick of those who use the word "Hoarder" as some sort of horrible, accusational BS. The ones who have not thought ahead and "saved for a rainy day" are the ones throwing the accusational rocks.....
There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with having a hoard of something.... anything... well, I guess unless it's ammo....sheesh... some people need to get a grip. Pantry, root cellar, bank account, jar of pennies..... If anyone has any of these then I guess they are a.....oh no........HOARDER.....
I am a Hoarder and proud of it! I hoard food, water, money, lead, powder, ammo, clothes. Hmm, lets see. Our society has turned into one of spending what you don't have rather that one of saving things up. The ones who have not planned ahead for the future are the ones throwing stones. Some things never change.
I'd rather be a" Hoarder" than a "Lacker". One is wise, the other is a fool
Hoard noun 1. a supply or accumulation that is hidden or carefully guarded for preservation, future use, etc.: a vast hoard of silver. verb (used with object) 2. to accumulate for preservation, future use, etc., in a hidden or carefully guarded place: to hoard food during a shortage. verb (used without object) 3. to accumulate money, food, or the like, in a hidden or carefully guarded place for preservation, future use, etc.
Lack lak/Submit noun 1. the state of being without or not having enough of something. "the case was dismissed for lack of evidence" synonyms: absence, want, need, deficiency, dearth, insufficiency, shortage, shortfall, scarcity, paucity, unavailability, deficit "a lack of cash" antonyms: abundance verb verb: lack; 3rd person present: lacks; past tense: lacked; past participle: lacked; gerund or present participle: lacking 1. be without or deficient in. "the novel lacks imagination" synonyms: be without, be in need of, need, be lacking, require, want, be short of, be deficient in, be bereft of, be low on, be pressed for, have insufficient; informalbe strapped for "they lack sufficient resources"

Agreed. I buy and hoard when prices are low because of low demand. That frees me from having to pay the higher prices when demand increases and prices follow. Makes for one fewer person driving the demand in times like this.
Hopefully everyone here will do the same when .22 LR becomes readily available again. Buy as much as you can a bit over time and you can be shooting and smiling the next time it gets crazy. This shortage is nothing compared to what it will be the day it is announced there will be a lead ammo ban. That will truly spell the end of cheap .22 LR ammo and those who built up a hoard when it was available will still be shooting.

I live in Alaska where everything/anything can be in short supply or not available at any time. Including food and other "everyday" items. In regards to ANYTHING we need here my motto is.... "get it while the gettin's good!" I am always on the look out for what I need. It's nobodies business if I already have some or not! If its available and I have the money, I'll buy it cuz I know I'll need it eventually. Heck, I just bought some powder from a guy for 25 bucks a pound. Unopened metal cans and I think they still have price tags on them for less than 10 bucks. Big whoop. You wanna play you gotta pay!
Barges bring up Hazmat to Alaska and they are only allowed to bring X pounds per barge. We cannot by ammo/powder, etc. online like the lower 48 and have it shipped UPS ground. It's hazmat and unless one is doing a large bulk buy it's cost prohibitive. And, you can ship primers and powder on the same shipment. Last time the shelves were full I stocked up. Glad I did, shelves are empty now. Gotta plan ahead for the rainy days!

I'm almost half a century old and never during any of those years did I think hmmm, I better stock up on .22. I still don't understand the demand. I have noticed a correlation between the prepper craze and .22 demand.

Well, I shot up the last of my 78 cents a box .22 LR ammo some time ago, and just recently finished the last of my 83 cents per box stuff. I'm working on the 89 cents a box Federal Lightening now. Starting some time in the late 70's and early '80's, I would buy all I could when the discount retailers ran it on sale. Still have 13,000 plus rounds. I wasn't hoarding ... it was in excess supply. You could say I'm Happy Happy... but I'm still hoping for a return to normal supply and pricing while I'm still alive.

anyone noticed all the new brands popping up... seems all the foreign companies are jumping on the band wagon... Brownells has a banner at the top of their page that "CI 22 LR is back in stock, no limits, while supply lasts" I hit the link, thinking they typo'd off one of the "C's" on CCI... nope... CI ammo made in Mexico
hate to stock up on any ammo, even if it's priced right, if it doesn't shoot well in my guns...

At $60 per brick, they can keep it.

I did buy my 2 box limit of Federal copper washed boxes of 50 at Cabelas when I was in there the other day, for $3.99 each box... that's only $40.00 per brick ( if they'd let ya buy one brick ) but it's the cheapest price on "decent" ammo I've seen for a while... I though I over heard the sales guy tell another customer, that they did put several bricks out at $40.00 but those all sold right away... so while we are getting close to caught up, there still must be enough of us that have either waited for the cost to come down, or those that have been buying all along, are not out of money yet, & realize that's 1/2 the price they paid for ammo they already have... I still have a couple 1000 & built my 25 ACP revolver, so I'm in no hurry... as long as the next "tragedy" doesn't come along before we get caught up, I'm confident we'll get there soon
