Is it just me, maybe getting an early case of cabin fever. Need to get out and tromp around in the timber to burn off some frustration.
I am sick and tired of the whining going on with the S7. There, I said it. It is a production gun. Not a custom shop, semi custom or total custom. It was made on assembly line by people just like us, with day to day problems and day to day issues.
Maybe I have been lucky. Maybe I am not picky. Maybe I have not been educated yet on what to expect on fit and finish of a firearm?
IMHO a handgun is a tool. You can buy craftsman, snap on, mac, etc. You get what you pay for, for the most part. You pay more you get more in the way of fit and finish. Bottom line is a 1/2 wrench still fits a 1/2 bolt or nut regardless of who made it. How long it last before showing wear, well we pay for that too. Finish, well add some more for that.
My dad always liked the industro super tools. He used them a fair bit, by no means were they for some one that uses them day in and day out. But, they could cover that too.
I see Rugers products kind of like this. You are getting a D9 cat for the price of a pallet of shovels. Oh sure the track may get a little loose over time or the thing has a scuff mark on the hood, all fixable. As one old farmer I worked for would say" ain't got nothing to do with the running of it".
Maybe I have been lucky? I have bought way more Rugers in the past three years than in the prior 30. I have yet to have purchased a brand spanking nib one that had an issues that would make me return them. My 3" GP adjustable sight 38 special exclusive just amazes folks that have shot it. My 22/22 mag single six is a good one. My 45 colt/45acp, I have not run enough through it yet but getting there. 45 acp is out standing the colt is a work in progress. Fit and finish darn nice for what I paid for it nib.
Buddy bought a 41 mag Blackhawk. Grip frame was way proud of the frame. Sent it back and it was promptly taken care of. It had a couple of minor flaws in the finish but it was not mentioned to them. I honestly think they either replaced the barrel and extractor or blued and polished it. Darn fine looking PRODUCTION rig.
