Thinking about picking up a set...similar to these, but probably without any finger grooves. Anyone tried them? This will be on an Alaskan as well, but chambered in 454 (although likely shooting heavy 45 Colt loads). I am really partial to wood, and I don't like the tackiness of rubber, since it grabs your clothes, etc.

I have that same style, laminated wood, on my Redhawk 410 GNR. Very comfortable to shoot. Sure they would be fine on your 45 Colt level loads. Not sure about them on full power 454 Casull though.

Here's my Redhawk 4" with Herrett's! Love what Herrett's do with Walnut. Steve like your grips also. Hogues on the SRH beautifully grained.

I tried every configuration available on a std Redhawk, and they were all too big for my hands. I still have a set of Rosewood single finger-groove grips around here somewhere if you're interested.

Appreciate the offer, but the Alaskan is a SRH.

Put it this way, my thumb still hurts from shooting my Hogue-equipped Super Redhawk .480........back in March.

Craig - I might be interested in taking that grip off your hands...seriously. I plan to shoot mostly 45 Colt in this one, and could switch the wood grip out for the rubber when I switch to 50KSI Loads in either 45 or 454.

I am far from recoil sensitive, but Craig's .480 SRH with those grips was awful. Much worse than either my .475 SRH loaded to spec and worse than my lightweight .500 Linebaugh SRH. I wouldn't wish those grips on anyone.

Whitworth - Which Grips are you running on your SRH's?

I have . Worked fine . Once I knocked off those silly finger-grooves with a sharp rasp.

Whitworth - Which Grips are you running on your SRH's? Hogue Tamers all the way. Not pretty, but fully functional, and as far as I am concerned, there is beauty in function!

I'm gonna keep the rosewoods in case I get one of those new .22LR GP's but you're welcome to the laminates.
