Unbeknownst or unnoticed, the screw holding the thumbpiece on my S&W revolver must have been loose. After target shooting in the woods, the parts were missing from the gun. Woe was me. I found out that the local Chris Supply store rents metal detector devices, so with high hopes I spent a twenty to do this for a day. I went back to the area I had shot from; no luck for about an hour-and-a-half. Then to my great joy I had a signal from the device! I scrabbled in the weeds and dirt for a long time, but then there was the thumbpiece! Still had a signal from the detector, and the missing screw showed up also! It is unusual for a plan to work so well, so I am happy and grateful to have been able to find the missing parts. As they say, even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in awhile.

WOW ! Now that's a happy ending. I lost the end two pcs/parts of the ejector rod on my Bulldog once and didn't notice until back at camp. As we had covered many miles of hills and forest, I'd no hope. Charter Arms did send me the parts rather quickly. Congrats on a happy outcome.
