Most will have heard about this shooting by now. I live about 40 minutes north of Marysville, its right on I-5. My boy is a senior at his school and a girl he knows there is cousins with the now deceased shooter, a native American freshman. He is dead, one girl is dead and at least 3 others are critical. Very, very sad for all concerned.

Very Sad, but concerns me that it was predicted by many to happen right before midterm elections. It does make one wonder....

We have a state initiative to vote on in November called I-594 for those that don't know about it, that will greatly expand background checks and increase waiting periods etc for ALL gun sales. Its widely believed that it will pass handily given the political makeup of most of the urban areas of this now mostly liberal state. I don't think there is anything to wonder about in this case, just one of those unfortunate things that happen. The shooter was going thru a breakup with a girlfriend, (one of the victims), had been in a fight recently over it, been expelled recently for that or something else as well, so things were not going well apparently for him. I too think 594 will pass, but hope that our state supremes will toss it when it comes their way.

Passing "feel good" laws to further restrict law abiding citizens is like spanking a good child every time a bad child acts out. The very nature of law breakers is to brake the law. DUH!!!!! There are plenty of laws covering what is being acted out here. That is why most of these shooters take their own life. These are murder/suicides. But, I'm "preaching to the choir."

JGT, the spanking analogy is outstanding. I'd never heard or thought of that one but I think I'll remember it and use it.
