No shotgun section, so here it is: An old double I am looking at has two screws between the barrels on the underside. Also a decently filled spot on the underside of the stock near the buttplate. I expect sometime in the past a small sling attachment point was held in place there, and the screws left in place so as to not have the threaded holes left open once the sling mount was removed along with the sling stud in the stock. Sound right? A field gun, not a fine graded piece. How much would ya'll knock off the price for the loss of it being in original state?
Regards, DJ

Depends on the gun. I have a BRNO 16 gauge sidelock SxS so done but it came with the removed parts. It might be a $1000 or so gun so little price impact if the parts were missing. If the piece is a Merkel with said parts removed then it is a different story. Details on the gun?

I shoot CAS with several old SXS shotguns I bought from Cabelas I think all 3 of mine actually have the sling attachments, so it is possible they were there from the factory... pictures & or brand & age of shotgun would help with the question though...

Rereading my post I see that I was not very clear. Too late at night for composing messages......
The gun did not originally have sling points, my question was supposed to be how much the holes/screws affect value since they don't belong there.
The gun is a Fox Sterlingworth, made late in A.H.Fox Gun Co. production before they began to be marked with the Savage Arms name on them.
