The first gun I ever bought with my own money was a Colt LW Commander 45 acp. Over 37 years I have had quite a few like it in 45acp and Super 38, and found nothing else that fit, shot, and carried better. I eventually graduated to a Les Baer LW 45 and carried it in a Barranti IWB quite happily for a good while. I recently decided to retire the old stud horse and get me a new pony. Naturally, being the kinda Cowboy that I am, I was going to require a remuda as one would just not do. I selected the Smith and Wesson E series Scandium roundbutt 45acp and in Super 38 I went with the Dan Wesson Guardian. Alas, the DW came with a dead front sight lamp from Trijicon and I had to send the slide back for a replacement tritium insert. I had the guns, now I needed a new saddle.
I called Mike and asked him to build me a special IWB. I told him I wanted in to be as pretty inside as it was outside. He delivered. It is absolutely beautiful.
I asked for absolutely no more leather than needed to accomplish the job. He delivered.
I wanted sight rails. He delivered. They are tight and tidy.
I asked for a special belt loop as I prefer to anchor my IWB down to my jeans. I expect my 1911 to be exactly where I left it last. He delivered. This rig is rock solid stable. The one way snaps are perfect.
Then there are the much appreciated subtleties. This thing draws like a mad rattler. The angle at which it rides optimizes hand to grip contact. There is absolutely no excess leather to impede the all important first grip. The wide mouth steel reinforced mouth makes re-holstering effortless. Every facet on this holster has been addressed lovingly. There are no edged surfaces left behind to grab or pinch. This rig describes comfortable all day carry and stability. The stitching and stamping, edging and bordering, the fit and finish, the care and heart and the knowledge and security built into this rig all add up to the absolute apex of a mans skill.
I haven't even addressed his new mag pouch yet. This one is just neat. Im proud to say I have had much imput into Barranti leather products but this one is all Mike. Keen. Cool. Slick. It just grabs my belt. It holds the mag snugly yet releases it readily. Perfect. And pretty too. I am pleased beyond words by this latest Barranti creation. That last is no small praise.....
