A couple of months back (on the old forum) I asked about Green Dot powder. Recently, I bought 8 lbs of it and thought I'd share the results. So far I've used it for mild loads in 45 Colt, 401 Bobcat, and 38-40. Burns really clean and is extremely accurate. For those having a hard time finding Unique due to low supply, give Green Dot a try. It's a little faster than Unique, but seems to be readily available. -Lee www.singleactions.com

it should work fantastic for loads in that class.Back in the day i burned several kegs back when i shot competition trap. when i reverted to only shooting trap about one tournament per year i reverted to factory shoshells & burned up several different fast to medium rate powders in my revolvers for light loads. i second your opinion on Green Dot in the .45Colt

I was shooting Green Dot again today in a 45 Colt. 7.0 of it under a 250 grain hardcast. Really accurate and not too messy. -Lee www.singleactions.com

I have Green Dot load data for the common revolver rounds (to include 44 Special). I'll try to scan the sheet tonight and post it here. -Lee www.singleactions.com

In a small frame gun like that, try 5.0 of Green Dot with a 246 or 250 grain cast bullet. -Lee www.singleactions.com

This is obviously an old post, but it just so happens to be exactly what I've been looking for. I almost thought I was nuts for trying to use Green Dot. I have some theoretical loads for .454 Casull from Quick Load (all jacketed though):
454 Casull, 4.75” bbl
40,000 PSI
Sierra 300 gr. JSP 10.9 gr. Green Dot, 1062 fps, 83.2% load density
250 gr. Hornady XTP (<--- I believe this bullet will be fine because it is well under 1400 fps) 13.5 gr Green Dot, 1223 fps, 82.7% load density
240 gr. Hornady XTP MAG 13.5 gr Green Dot, 1248 fps, 83.4% load density

For the most complete tested data on Green Dot find a copy of the Speer Manual #9 under the swaged bullet sections and the first Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook from the 1970's, with the gray cover. I've never seen any more extensive data listed anywhere.
