I sent an Interarms Mk X 30-06 rifle to JES reboring in Oregon a few weeks ago to get bored out to .35 Whelen with 14 inch twist. Got it back quickly, got it to the range today. Wanted to do a modified break in with shoot and clean so only got one box of ammo thru it, some Hornady Superperformance 200gr. I fired 5 and cleaned, then 6, 5 and 4 more, cleaning between. Took two rounds to find my way after bore sighting. Put 9 rounds in a group 2 inches left to right (quite windy!), cleaned again, fired a group with 5 in under an inch, cleaned again and put the last 4 in about an inch. I think copper fouling was getting ahead of me as all I had at the range was No.9. So far looks very promising. BTW, the copper came out of the bore quickly with Barnes CR10 at home, very easy cleanup. Considering the wind and shooting factory loads, I was impressed with the job JES did. Very reasonably priced as well which includes return shipping. Another fella at the range who recommended JES to me has a Ruger No. 1 now in .35 W that started out as a .270 and he says it shoots very well also.

A lot of guys had Jes rebore their Marlin 336's to 375win from 30-30. Not one of them has complained (that I've seen).
Fast turn around, quality work, and very reasonable prices. What's not to like.

This is good to hear: I've got a Springfield '03 Sporter that needs to become a 35 Whelen.

This is good to hear: I've got a Springfield '03 Sporter that needs to become a 35 Whelen. I too have one of those, one I put together some years ago on a high number Springfield action. I just couldn't bring myself to change it however so turned to this MK X as a donor gun. I haven't shot it much for a while so it seemed a natural.

I've a 1917 Winchester made Enfield that I'd like to see go from an '06 with a crusty bore to a .35 Whelen.

love the cartridge... been probably a couple years ago now, I bought an unfired late 70's vintage Remington BDL that had quite a few handling marks, but was a beautiful rifle... I added a Luepold base & scope... shoots like a dream

www.35caliber.com is their site. I see that .356 is one of their offerings in the 336.

I sent him a Remington 742, in 6mm that had a barrel that was junk. He sent it back as a 35 Whelen and it shot great! Ronnie

I've heard nothing but good things about JES.
