It was a great celebration. I'm going to guess that there were about 200 people in attendance. It could not have been done better.
The custom guns by Milt Morrison, John Linebaugh, Gary Reeder and Boise Gun were all superb works of art. One of the board members here won the engraved gun from Boise Gun. I'm hoping he's out shooting it today.
With regard to the one-off adjustable sight Bearcat, I asked Ken Jorgenson of Ruger if it is expected to become a Ruger offering. He said "Maybe some day ...." So, send in your cards, letters and emails, folks.

It's a funny thing, attending the banquet. Even though I won the engraved Ruger .44 Special (which I greatly appreciate, trust me), the real highlights for me was the camaraderie, love, and affection outpouring for John. I can state without fear of rebuttal that it was a hard man that night that could claim not to have been touched by John's straight from the heart speech. There were more than a few times in that room when we would all have to wipe the dust from our eyes. And times of laughter, oh my, plenty of that too! Special to me as well, was meeting a very quiet, humble gentleman that was a bit confused as to why he was there. That would be Ted Keith, Elmer's son. He was a bit bewildered as to the fuss we made over him, even though it was obvious to the majority of us that we were ALL there ultimately, as a direct result of his father's writings. Not a fellow in the room didn't have Elmer (and Skeeter) on his mind at some point in time or another. Meeting folks who I've only known by way of the 'net, or by their writings or reputation will remain one of my fondest memories. Having breakfast at the hotel we sat alongside Gary Reeder, Roy Fishpaw, and John Linebaugh. Let me tell you, if you like to chew about guns, sixguns in particular, you could do worse. . After the banquet a group of us closed the bar discussing gun magazines, flintlocks, sixguns, you name it. The more the libations flowed, the more we talked, and gents there was a feller or two there able to out talk me, a rare accomplishment I assure you! About that Ruger I won. It is engraved, color case hardened, and has fancy checkered walnut grips. It also has JT's brand inlayed in gold on the backstrap, and came with documents from JT re: provenance, and the group size he fired, etc., truly a masterpiece. But John's biggest concern about it? He kept asking, "will you shoot it, will you shoot it?" He wants it to be used, and so I shall, because what else could give me greater pleasure than remembering a truly fine night that way. I wish you all could have been there.........

Glad to hear that the event was all that it should have been and more. Was there any word on the progress on his book of the 45? I am waiting with baited breath for this one and do not want to miss-out.

Hey turbo! I'm from Washington. The banquet was in Idaho. I'm waiting for the Ruger to be shipped to the gunshop where I work. As for event pics, a few posts back it was announced that a link would be up soon for pics taken at the dinner by a professional photographer. Patience grasshopper........

Cutch, great to meet you! I had such a blast! Met so many good folks there. The first person I saw in the banquet hall was Ted Keith...I had a meal with Roy Fishpaw the next day...dang too many good folks to list, but I am sorry that more of you fine folks couldn't make it.
