I've been having lots of fun casting bullets and shooting my assortment of 38 specials over the last few years. I hear a lot about the Colt Shooting Master being a pretty impressive DA from the 20's and 30's. It was the highest priced gun in the Colt line in the years before WWII. Anyone play with one?
thanks ward

I had one and it had the smoothest DA pull of any revolver I've handled, including tuned Pythons. Photobucket ate my pictures, but I'll see if I can find some to post tonight.

I had on in 38 Special some years back and it was a very nice albeit it big and heavy sixgun. It is very similar to the New Service Target. There are some minor differences in the grips between the two if I remember correctly.
But, if I wanted to play with a big heavy 38 Special, I would hunt up a Smith and Wesson Outdoorsman. They are much nicer handguns, cheaper and easier to locate.

The Shooting Master is the premier Colt DA of all time IMO. Quality and chamberings are superior to the Python.
