If it isn't pitted too bad, I would have it reblued or maybe send it to Mahousky's for a Metalife hard chrome finish I really like the model 15 and it's stainless brother, the model 67. Shoot it first and see how good it shoots.

I'll take an ugly gun that shoots good over a pretty one that don't. Substitute a certain three words here and you might have what some would consider relationship advice.

The rust on the bottom of the trigger guard was bad enough that I had to go through the blue to get rid of it. I touched it up with a few coats of cold blue afterwards. I left the rest alone other than giving it a good once over with 0000 steel wool. Now to see how it shoots!

A worthy highjack! Hopefully some young un here will heed the words of wisdom and realize that the guys with the trophy wives are the ones who die too soon from the misery!

Looks like a perfect working gun to get carried in the hills.

I did finally shoot the old Smith the other day. I was needing some 38 brass for my 30 Badger, so I shot a box of 50 of the cheap Precision Delta reloads at 25 yards. I was not impressed at all. But, I shot 6 Remington 130gr rounds since I was wanting some brass that I knew was once fired. I was impressed with the revolver and those loads! I was able to see the spot under the bullseye getting a bit bigger with each shot. I suppose I need to go to Wally and get a few boxes since I apparently likes them.

I'll have to console myself with a new to me drilling ronnie

I don't think Joe shot it any either....
If I hadn't needed the brass, I wouldn't have either. Of course now that I see what it will do, I'll be ordering a mold and save a few pieces of the new Starline and Remington to use in it rather than forming them to 30 Badger.

I may try my hand at one of the rattle can bake on finishes from Brownells. It is a good candidate for practicing on. Spray painting a S&W Model 15 is heresy. I would get it reblued and restore it to it's original condition. Then you would have something to be proud of.

I carried a model 15 for 10 years in the military. So I bought one recently to be a shooter. It was in the shape yours is in, but was tight. So I sent it off for rebluing. When it came back I added some Ahrends retro targets. I am extremely happy with it and it turned out good.

That's a nice carry gun in my book. If you have any wadcutters see what it'll do with a starting load of either Bullseye or Red Dot. You might be really surprised in a good way.

It isn't worth a fine refinish, and anything else will ruin it. Leave it alone and shoot the heck out of it. I have a pre 15 with a target hammer which has a slight different contour than most. I assume it is original and one of the early ones.
I doubt many 15s came with TT or TH, but the blister pack drop in ones that hung on racks at S&W dealers weren't too expensive. They were dropped into about anything.
