I'm just getting started with IHMSA revolver big bore and I've had a heck of a time finding a blast shield for my leg when shooting out of the creedmoor position. Anybody have one they'd part with? Any suggestions on how I can make one myself? I can sew without stabbing my fingers too many times but that's the extent of my skills

I'm sure others will be along with better ideas, but if you're feeling crafty, Hobby Lobby sells mixed bags of thick leather that would be perfect. Maybe do a couple layers for added security. Should cost about $8! $20 if you need to buy a leather sewing kit.

I made mine from a piece of flat belting. It is smooth on one side, which is the side the gun is on. I have seen guys use just a leg guard. I myself disliked them because they would eventually get a wrinkle in them. This making a ledge or artificial support which is not legal according to the rules. The conveyor belting I used is fairley stiff. I just fastened a piece of belting to it with several holes in it to find a length I like or worked for me. Several years back a person shooting with a leg guard that had a wrinkle in it and they used it as a rest. This person was an international class shooter, they were called on it after the first ten chickens, so the person moved it so there was no ledge. The party promptly missed several pigs and really struggled on turkeys. Rams were safe. Of course it was blammed on the gun. Fast forward to a region shoot and the party again had the questionable ledge leg guard in use. They went off the line and loaded up and left. Have not seen them since. I have seen a lot of questionable gear reguarding this subject. From pants tucked into to lace up boots to pulling socks up over a wadded up pant leg. I find this interesting as the only reward is bragging rights. Cheat in this game and you only cheat yourself IMHO. Just don't want you to go out and shoot an excellent score and some one have any reason to complain. One of the past internationals let a guy use a leg guard with a "patch" on it. It caused a lot of grief to say the least and several guys just flat got out of it because nothing was done. Jeff
