I like to look at my handguns, so I often have one or more of them somewhere nearby when I'm sitting around the TV or computer. I've tried all kinds of trigger-guard type props for this purpose, but I never really liked the way they work or look.
My new place has a hardwood floor in the living room, so I put self-adhesive felt bumpers under all the furniture. These are about 1/4-inch thick and come in various shapes and sizes.
I had a few leftover and find they make excellent pistol props if you take two of them and stick them together back-to-back. Actually, two are just right for revolvers; adding one more "layer" seems better for autos.
Besides working great, they're also pretty darn *cheap*.

Everybody loves a pic, so here's one for illustration. I usually have the gun(s) sitting on a folded hand towel, as seen here. As you can also see, the USFA Sheriff's Model is supported by the standard, two-layer Revolver Prop-N-Pad. Depending on your viewpoint, the three-layer patented, pyramidal Auto Prop-N-Pad appears in the foreground. As you *cannot* see (from the front...), the Prop-N-Pads only show upon "reflection" when in actual use.

That is a great idea. I'll have to try that. I have been using clear rubber tubing for years. Buy a few feet, cut pieces to whatever length needed. Very cheap and handy, but I can definitely see times the felt would work better, or at least in conjunction, with the tubing. Thanks!
