All, I'm sure this has been discussed but after looking at some of Alan Harton's work and bearcat conversions to 32 mag. it sure looks like there is room in there for the 38 spl. Is this possible on the bearcat?

Thanks Texas.. ya.. I figure it is going to run a few $$$ .. My question is, for those in the "know" what is a rough est. on this type of conversion... I know, "call the smith and ask".. and I can but am wondering if this is a 2k, 2.5k or 3k proposition? thanks

Don't know about .38 Special - my Harton .32 Magnum Bearcat was about $1100 on my gun. Very reasonable, I thought. Jeff thinks I'm crazy.

Boge.... personally.. i think that is very reasonable for what you got... adj. sights. 5 shot conversion etc... not bad at all... I would'nt think bigger holes would cost any more.. BTW.. I don't think your crazy... it is rare that a gun manufacturer offers EXACTLY what you want.... I lean towards the smaller guns myself...but also really like bigger bores.. .. maybe a contradiction but I'm ok with that.

ODOH, yep.. I'm far from "comfortable" but tend to like the better things.. my inquiry into this was simply to understand if it was within reach or not....from the initial responses it looks like it might be around 2 or so new rugers... this is do-able... 5 or more is beyond the means...

When John Linebaugh was down in Terrell Texas he was packing a BearCat in 32. You might give him a call. Linebaugh Custom Sixguns P.O. Box 455 Cody, WY 82414 Delivery (UPS) 177 Louis L'Amour Lane, Powell, WY 82435 www.customsixguns.com/index.htm

Not a 32 mag conversion but I did do a 22 mag on a bearcat and was very surprised at the accuracy of the little thing. It served as my CCW for a while it was that good.

My dad paid $30 for his Single Six in the early 70's, and that is the last Single Action he has ever bought. He is still waiting for another deal like that to come around. I paid 4 times that for a stripped frame to send to Alan Harton for a project that is going to run me another $1500 -$2000. (38 special on a Single Six - with bells & whistles)

Jeff thinks it's crazy to have upwards of a grand in a Bearcat, but he spends all his time shooting OTHER people's guns, so what does he know? ;D
Hell, he doesn't even dig Grover's sixguns because they're wrong-handed for him!
I've got THREE custom Bearcats, my Harton .32, my Bowen .22/.22 Mag (http://www.gunblast.com/Boge_BowenBearcat.htm), and another one I can't talk about yet. I thought Alan's price was very reasonable, and Hamilton's even more so. To each his own, long as I got mine!
