Hi all. Been tweaking my EDC 325PD to get it "right". Swapped out the front sight for an XS big dot(hate fiber optics), rear sight for a bowen rough country (tougher and ran out of adjustment with the lower front sight), and leather by El Paso Saddlery. It was a good gun as it came from the factory but now it's a great gun. Only other thing I might do later on is bob the hammer. Before..... After.....

Nice one I too am joining the wheelgun carry group. Going to be ordering a 627 PC soon and selling off the Block...I mean Glock that I have been CC'ing for the past 7 or 8 years.

I cc'd a 36 a lot, but always seem to come back to revolvers. I carried a 337 in an ankle holster inside my boot when I worked as a paramedic a lot of places I wasn't supposed to. If ya stop and think that your carrying a j frame as a back up gun because you know it's going to run, shouldn't you feel the same about your primary? Nothing agains the glock, I never had one lick of trouble or stumble from it. It's set up similar to this with xs sights and a fulcrum trigger that'll give most 1911's a run for their money. Just something about this gun that's just "right". Wish they made a scandium 5 shot 45 on the l frame that'd be a hell of a BUG. Maybe with the new 69 frame design it'll happen.

I've got nothing against the Glock either. One could do a Helluva lot worse. It's just that I was carrying a G30 - which has a thick, beefy slide. But the real issue is those 10 round magazines stoked with 230 grainers - that really jacks up the weight. Me, being a skinny guy, it has a tendency to pull down my pants when worn on the hip. The 627 I plan to get will ride in a shoulder holster during cool weather - and I'll worry later about summer carry. And as for the diminished capacity issue, dropping to 8 rounds of .357 from 10 rds. of .45 is not that big of a deal to me. With moon clips, I can reload the 627 just as quickly. It sure works well for Jerry Miculek.

I really like the look of that gun. how light is it? My EDC is the Ruger LCRX and it is preaty light but that snubby really looks nice

About 21 ounces unloaded, 4 ounces more than a 357 lcr. Once you get used to the bulk you strap it on and forget about it till you need it. Last mod may be bobbing the hammer as every once in a while I get a little poke from the hammer spur, or may just try a different holster with a hammer shield. Don't want to start a war, but I am a big fan of big heavy bullets over light and fast. Less noise, no sonic crack, less muzzle blast, no worry over whether the bullet will expand etc. I'm in the process of setting up a 396 nightguard as a replacement for my 340 m&p. I'm a big guy and think I can stash the 44 just about anywhere I could the j frame if I go about it right. Plan on it's a bobbed hammer, titanium cylinder, same sight set up, and some more compact grips.

That looks pretty good.
You may not need the titanium cylinder with the 396NG. I find the steel cylinder pretty easy on the hip and I'm skinny as a twig. I used some stock SSR grips from a 386 and they are nice and thin, with good grab qualities when yankin' from a Barranti Hank Sloan. The 44 is still pretty controllable with 200's moving at 1000fps or so. I just got some full wadcutters I cant wait to try out. I too am going to buy a bobbed hammer when I find one.

I'd also like to stick it in my pocket or on my ankle on occasion as well. Plus titanium cylinders are sexy. Except on a 340pd, that little guy fractured my hand in two places. Are you getting the buffalo bore full wad cutters? That's the plan for mine as well.

You can buy just the bullet (same company bb gets their bullets from) from rimrock bullets. That's what I bought.
Btw. Numrich has the 396 titanium cylinder in stock for like $90

Good info on the rim rock bullets. I have an older lee 208gr full wadcutter mold I'm going to give a go as well. I have the cylinder on order from numrich already, but thanks for the tip.

Medicdave: Thanks for the posting! I held out for the 4" version of your 45ACP shown above and never found one. Great concept and excellent execution by Smith. I carried, carry Smiths for a living the last 40 years. Tactical revolvers run better with "bobbed" hammers. Those N frame hammer spurs can definitely be pesky for several reasons. The bobbed hammer also forces us to practice DA shooting which we will probably use if needed for self defense.

I've got a spare matched set just haven't had time to preform surgery yet. I'll post up pics after the bob job. That sounded kind of dirty lol.
