I have a 3" S&W 625 and will had a stainless flattop with both cylinders by the end of the week. Just need to go pick it up it's at my dealers. The S&W is a fun gun to pack in the woods and I may shoot a IDPA match with it this winter.

Some of the best shooting I have ever done has been with one of my two 625's (a 5" 625-6 and a 4" 625-8 JM Special). My Ruger Bisley Convertible shoots extremely well with the .45 ACP cylinder (as well as the .45 Colt). Here's my first target with the Bisley after I reamed the cylinders: Fifty Feet off a makeshift rest indoors (it was COLD outside): Dale53

Owned at least a half dozen 45 ACP S&Ws and a few ACP Blackhawks through the years. Currently holding a PC and JM 625. Found them as NIB in the used gun case. Actually paid more for the JM than the PC. Swapped out the trigger in the JM for a Ron Power part. That brass bead front on the JM had to go too. Shooting the PC gun I quickly discovered why it looked new and was in the used gun case. It drove me to acquire and use the "crane stretcher" I'd read about for 40 years. Really fun guns to shoot. Had a local holster maker whip up some IDPA legal kydex for just in case I wanted to play. I prefer the Hogue grip but have a plan to shift from rubber to wood in the future.

And if you guys with the calibrated eyeballs think the PC cylinder is shorter than the JM 625..

For the late model 625s S&W sells a front blade set. The Power tool steel trigger is a work of art! Actually bought two but the PC gun did not need one. Trigger #2 ended up in a 686.

Does the Power custom trigger come complete as your photo shows?

I have two S&W 625's and primarily use 45 AR brass with an LBT 230 WFN-GC. Veral put most of the bullet out of the case and have had excellent results using Longshot, Herco or WSF. Dang that's a mean looking bullet.

Exactly as it is in the picture. Seems like a lighter rebound spring was in the package too..

I have two -- one is a S/S Bisley convertible and the other is a USFA SAA convertible. For casual shooting, I almost always use the ACP. In a good gun with the right loads, the ACP is a really good shooter -- IMHO.

Thumper, I like that 25-12! Didn't know there was such a thing. Do you know what the chamber throats measure?

I have been looking at .45 ACP revolvers all week along with .44 mags for hunting backup gun as I do lots of archery hunting in bear and lion country for elk and today purchased the new 69 mostly because of the excellent thread buy Paul so I thought that I had postponed my quest for the ACP. Then I stumbled across this thread, and you guys got me all excited again so I guess I need to go ahead with the ACP revolver purchase as well as I love .45 ACP.
As a WWW 2 kid, I grew up with about 10000 rds of .45 in my grandmothers basement that was there in case of invasion. My dad carried a 1911 in the war as he was a PBY pilot. When I was about 5, I found a S&W .45 ACP that my grandfather had. After dad was gone, I sent his .45 auto to the late Armand Swenson (as recommended by Jeff Cooper) for a total rework and still have it today as my favorite auto. It will put 3 in a touch hole at 25 yds.
Over the years I have owned many .45 autos, carbines, thompson etc in ACP but never a revolver and don't know why other than I like shooting things out long range so I lean towards flat shooters and in revolver have .44 mag and .454 Casull and with the .44 mag shooting the special, is close to the .45 balistically. The .45ACP revolver I saw at 5 was given to my uncle and I always loved the look of that gun.
I recently looked at a Hichcock45 review where he was shooting a S&W classic 1950 that looks exactly as I remembered the .45 at grandmothers and that has me looking.
Here's the problem. There is about 5 or 6 guns that I really like including the 1950 and if I was fat, I would probably buy all of them, but already have too many guns (if that is ever possible).
So, many of you own multiple .45ACP revolvers, probably cause you like them all as well. BUT, if you could ONLY have one or two to start off with, which ones would you choose? They all look cool, even so different. In addition to the sex appeal, my main thing is the most fun, accurate gun to shoot. I have lots of .45 ammo so I will be plinking with them alot. Also dunno if it makes sense to look at .45/.45ACP combo cause of having the .44's.
I would expect to get full race out of any, I would be wanting to send it out for action and whatever needs to be done to make it the best.
Sorry I went on and on here, but the .45 ACP and me have lots of history, other than not owning the revolver in ACP.

Pap; I would have no hesitation recommending the 625-8 JM Special. I tuned mine to 9.0 lbs dbl action and 3.0 lbs single action. The trigger is superb. I run from 5000-7500 rounds per year through mine. All run home cast bullets (mostly the H&G #68, a 200 gr SWC but some NOE proper copy of the Lyman 454424 (250 gr SWC). The 250 gr chronographs at 900+ fps and is a dandy field load. FWIW Dale53
