Gentlemen; It appears that I will be visiting the Taos / Albuquerque area towards the end of August. Any suggestions as to local gun dealers I might want to visit? Is the local Harley dealer a good stop (not for guns)? Local eateries? Any help would be much appreciated.

I can tell you about Albuquerque in the order I would rank them.
Gunshops Ron Peterson Guns Omni Arms Charlies Sporting Goods
There are 2 Harley shops in town. I'm not a rider so I can't comment on them other than they are both big shops.
Restaurants El Pinto-Mexican food Sadies- Mexican food, 3 locations The Owl- good burgers Powdrells - BBQ
I hope this helps.

I have printed your list and put it in my briefcase. At the very least, I now have a starting point! Thanks for your time and trouble in replying, sir.

Stop by the Taos inn and eat and try a margarita! I don't even like them and would drink another 5 or 6 of their buddah style! www.taosinn.com/margaritas.htmlRonnie

I appreciate the recommendation. I have never been much of a tequila drinker, always leaned toward bourbon and sour mash (not necessarily in that order). My wife and sister, with whom I will be travelling, have been known to sample a margarita or two along the way. I will make certain they try this. Me? I'm just looking forward to the visit...

The wife and I stopped overnight a couple years ago. Just passin through and saw it and stopped. Good food, nice rooms, I my self prefer a good sourmash or a bourbon, or a nice single malt, but it was hot, and the drinks were cold! With out the sweet and sour mix they are much better. Ronnie

ermont0825 is right about the gun shops for sure. Not much North of Albuquerque worth mentioning. There is a restaurant in a little town called Espanola about 45 minutes from Taos on the road between Albuquerque and Taos called El Paragua that is one of the best in NM! www.elparagua.com/Default.htmI live about 20 minutes from there and eat there often. Enchilada Suprema, green with an egg over easy...trust me. There's also a diner just as you come into Taos on the right. Can't remember the name but it's great. Doesn't look like much but it is NM...You'll see the cars. You might not think it but the food in Northern NM is quite a bit different than it is down South. Enjoy!

Tangocharlie,
My wife and I just vacationed in the area, staying in both Taos and Sante Fe.
For local cuisine in Taos, I would suggest Orlando's for NM cuisine, and your wife and sis will enjoy the Agave Wine Margaritas...we did!
Breakfast - no contest: Michael's Kitchen - fresh baked goods every day and good sit down breakfast too.
For upscale dining in the area, I would suggest Lamberts - we had a nice meal there.
If you find yourself in Sante Fe, try Cafe Pasqual's or Anasazi for dinner. Lunch - The Shed.
Enjoy!!!
